Local cricket clubs, including those in Hampshire may be hit by a massive funding shortfall, according to Winchester’s MP Mark Oaten.
This comes after the government was recommended to move the Ashes test series back to terrestrial TV.
Martin Peters, store manager of Wild Sports in Winchester agrees that the move could be damaging to local club cricket, but also acknowledges that it could have its benefits.

The Lib Dem MP has written to Gordon Brown, and urged him to consider the financial impact the switch could have on grass-roots cricket.
